Heath four clear

17 January 2011

Thatto Heath Crusaders went four points clear at the top of the National Conference Premier League with a 28-18 win over Wigan St.Judes

Struggling Judes put up a brave fight and are now in danger of relegation, as Heath extended their lead at the top over Leigh East and Siddal. In fact, it was Easts who beat Siddal, 20-10, to help Heath to that 4-point lead, and these two teams are now third and second respectively - Easts with 2 games in hand on the two teams above them.

Cross-town rivals Leigh Miners are in fourth position despite losing 20-10 to Wigan St.Patricks, and Hull Dockers have creeped up into fifth position after beating Dudley Hill 10-24 in Bradford.

At the bottom, York Acorn are a point adrift of St.Judes, who are another point behind Saddleworth Rangers. A mere 3 points separate the bottom five clubs, and none of them can afford to let a gap open up at this stage of the season.

With Widnes St.Maries dropping out of Division One Oulton Raiders are 3 points clear of their nearest rivals, with 2 games in hand. In Division Two Hunslet Warriors are still 4 points clear.
