Easts hang on to top spot

04 April 2011

Leigh East defeated arch rivals Leigh Miners 12-22 in a cracking match at Twist Lane last week. And even though they did not play over the weekend they stay top of the National Conference League Premier Division.

Second-placed Thatto Heath Crusaders then went and lost to Wath Brow Hornets, 32-18, and the Heath have now played one game more than Easts, but are still behind on points difference.

Miners then suffered their second defeat in 5 days as they went down 34-16 to Siddal, who climb into third position. The Halifax side are now two points behind Easts and the Crusaders.

At the bottom is looks like only a miracle can keep York Acorn from avoiding the drop, alongside Wigan St.Judes, and Bradford Dudley Hill are looking like the other favourites for the drop as they lost 42-26 to Skirlaugh.
