Easts and Hornets Through
09 May 2011
Leigh East and Wath Brow Hornets won their National Conference Premier League Elimination Ties to play each other this weekend.
Leigh East defeated West Hull 40-28 and were always in control. they led 28-10 at the break, and another try just after half-time made it too difficult for West Hull.
The other tie was a closer affair, and even though Wath Brow Hornets beat Hull Dockers 30-6, it was only 6-0 at the break, and Hornets had to wait until 7 minutes from time before killing of Dockers, scoring 3 tries in that final 7 minute spell.
The two will now meet in the Elimination Semi-final this weekend, whilst top two, Siddal and Thatto Heath Crusaders will play out the Qualifying Final at Chevinedge. This is a repeat of the league fixture from 3 weeks ago when Siddal cameback from 0-18 to win 36-18. Let's hope this game is just as thrilling.
In Division One Oulton Raiders will finish their season at home to third-placed Myton Warriors. Oulton will be promoted as Champions whatever the result, and only two large defeats for Myton will stop them frombeing promoted too this week. Their midweek tie is against bottom-club Normanton Knights. Ince Rose Bridge are the other promoted club. At the bottom Eccles will join Normanton in Division Two and Stanningley and Castleford Panthers finish joint third bottom with the same points and points difference.
Hunslet Warriors are promoted as Division Two champions with Egremont Rangers and Castleford Lock Lane are promoted with them. Heworth will finish bottom and will need to reapply for their membership for next season.
