Easts and Heath neck-and-neck

12 April 2011

Leigh East and Thatto Heath Crusaders are locked in joint top-spot at the top of the National Conference Premier League after the latest round of games.

Easts thumped Bradford Dudley Hill 16-40 in their midweek game, but then went and lost to West Hull 36-26. Heath, however, had the week and the weekend off, but trail the Leigh club on points difference only. Both teams have 32 points from their 22 games.

Siddal are third with 30 from their 22 games, and after beating York Acorn 8-36 midweek, slumped to a tight 26-24 defeat to Skirlaugh. Wath Brow Hornets beat East Hull 34-14 on Saturday to secure fourth place and have 28 points from 33 games.

This all leads to the final few weeks of the season being hectic, as teams battle for the top-6 play-off places and try to avoid relegation.

At the bottom Wigan St.Judes and York Acorn are already relegated, whilst Bradford Dudley Hill need to win at least one of their games-in-hand to have any chance of staying up.

In Division One Oulton Raiders should be promoted as Champions, and in Division Two Hunslet Warriors are, again, all but Champions already.
